The Living Rant

miscellany that is my life

I need a secretary. August 29, 2006

I’m at that point that I’ve so many little things to do, that I’m forgetting all the little things that need to be done.  Scary.

Yesterday I completed the task of disconnecting the electric from the house (i.e. my name).  Check.   I cleaned out most of my office stuff (sniff). Check.  I hung out with K. Check.

Today – work on herring and monkfish samples.  Need a reimbursement check from J. Bank.  Phone mom.  Set up time to go to UNE.

Address changes? Arggh.

I got my Le Creuset set yesterday… HEAVY! Hopefully be able to cook something tonight, but I’ve not had the time to decide what I want to cook.

Better start the day.

Oh, did I mention that I’m starting to feel guilty for all the money I’ve spent this summer – clothes (needed some, not all), cookset (wanted), new jacket last night (its a lifer). I’ve spent a months rent on luxury.  Damn, next yr is going to be tough. :)

My last 6 days in Maine August 28, 2006

Well this is it.

I pack up and head to Halifax on Sunday.  I’ve 6 days left to get everything in order.  How scary.  Today, I think I will take care of the electric bill and maybe something else which I can’t list off right now.

Today my Le Creuset set should be arriving. – Due to this and other expenditures… I do NOT have much money saved for the start of school.  I still need to go to Bean’s and buy 2 new jackets (polar fleece and a rain jacket – both necessary for Halifax).

Then I have to make sure I get to see everyone before I leave

Oh,  and I’m still waiting to hear about my thesis.

Im leaving tonight for a 5 day trip to the middle of the Gulf of Maine.

It is bad that I’m not even on the boat yet and I’m counting down til I come home?

Do you remember the tea-cup ride? August 17, 2006

You know!? The Tilt-a-Whirl!  It goes up and down and round and round.  – I feel like I’m permanently stuck in a tea-cup.

The last couple of days have been rather hectic with the family coming, and also with it being that last week of the pack.  But I feel better today (apart from my throat), and I’m on a mission.  I’ve a tonne of things to get accomplished in the next two weeks, so I’m just going to through myself into it all.

We have a party at the house happening on the 26th of August.  And that will be my chance to have some fun.  Until then,  its work, focus on eating better meals, exercising and packing.  Stop worrying about stuff I can’t change, and change the stuff I have control over.

- Tonight,  hmm I was going to say eat a good supper, but I don’t get paid til tomorrow.  So make something for supper and plan a better supper for friday night.
